Kitty takes on the neighborhood bully!
But how does she conquer the big bully?
Meet Kitty, a daring and sweet little girl who won't take anyone talking mean, especially neighborhood bullies who push and shout to make all the kids cry. Everyone around the neighborhood calls the bully a brat and a snot, but not Kitty.
When Kitty finally goes face-to-face with the notorious bully, who boldly declares girls can't do anything they want, she decides to not sink to the bully's level. She doesn't punch or scream and yell, she doesn't even call him names. She uses her wits instead and proves to herself that she and her stuffed buddies can do anything they want.
This wonderfully illustrated story teaches girls to believe in themselves and not to doubt their dreams and wishes no matter what anyone tells them.

The story needs some details to understand bullying and how it effects children. Just to ignore a bully is not an effective way to deal with feelings. And is not realistic, maybe in a perfect world. To be able to ignore a bully is not so simple when you have little or no supportive environment. Kitty is very lucky to have a support system in place, but most children don't.Product details

Kitty Conquers the Big Bully A Children Picture Book edition by KayeC Jones Children eBooks Reviews
Bullying is a terrible thing, it can make the recipient of bullying feel bad about their self, maybe even hate themselves and others and it is something if severe enough can last a child's lifetime. An adult can often just walk away from a bullying situation but it is much harder for a child.
Kitty Conquers the Big Bully is a book aimed at girls and tells how Kitty is playing at being a Knight when a bully comes along and tells her that girls can't be knights and proceeds to push her down in the mud saying that "Girls can only clean & Make cookies. Well, Kitty was not going to stand for that so she gets up and begins thinking about all of the things that girls can do or hope to do as they get older.
I think that this is a book that lightheartedly covers the topic in a positive light. Letting the reader know that a girl can do anything she sets her mind to, from being a scientist to being a superhero. Kitty realized that the bully was not going to get her down, she knew what she was capable of.
This book carries a great message, that bullying is not appropriate and should not be accepted and that when a child is young, that is the time for them to learn this valuable lesson. The illustrations are beautifully done and help the message get across. A book that should definitely be on a girl's bookshelf! I give it five stars!
I received a copy of this book for review purposes.
Girl power! Fist bump, fist bump and fist bump again!!! Gotta love a book that teaches girls to stand up for themselves the right way, without turning into little brats themselves. Seriously, though, Kitty Conquers the Big Bully is a captivating picture book, determined to teach girls how independent and successful they can be. It’s all about recognizing that girls can be and do anything they want in today’s world, without listening to the naysayers, or falling prey to anyone’s negativity.
Of course, I went into so much more detail on my blog, sharing the message I saw clearly written between the lines. I hope you’ll take a moment to read my full review.

Kitty Conquers the Big Bully contains such a positive and wonderful message for girls. It’s a delightful story filled with colorful and dynamic pictures, an educational book destined to encourage the conversation about dealing with bullies, as well as teaching girls to dream big, because anything is possible, and they truly can be and do anything they want in life.
Kitty is having fun playing on her own as a knight when a big bully called Ronnie comes along. He tells her girls can’t be knights and pushes her in the mud. Kitty has an excellent way of overcoming the bully. She picks herself up and imagines all the things that she can become if she wants to, no matter if other people say negative things to her.
This is a delightful and unique book. It screams ‘girl power’ but the main message is good for both girls and boys. Believe in yourself and don’t let the bullies win! Kitty doesn’t retaliate with violence, nor does she stoop to the same level as Ronnie. She is better than that, and stronger. She conquers him in the best way possible, by ignoring his rude and ignorant comments and being herself and knowing that she can achieve whatever she wants.
The story was mostly rhyming, and was good to read aloud, though there were a few words that I had to explain to the kids. I’m not actually sure what a ‘flim-flam’ is myself, or why ladies would need saving from them! The text itself was large, clear and easy to read. Each letter ‘i’ was capped with a little heart where the dot goes. My six year old thought that was pretty neat!
Every page has clear, bright illustrations. I liked that Kitty’s friends, the teddy and bunny, accompany her through each of her ideas of what she could do. Kitty has pretty awesome hair, I especially like it when she is composing music. Ronnie is suitably scary and sour looking!
Kitty Conquers the Big Bully is suitable for preschool and primary school children.
*I received this book as a digital copy from the author, who asked me for an honest review of this book. I did not receive any other remuneration, and the review is composed entirely of my own opinions.
A great quick read, with a great storyline and good supportive ideas for little girls to take to heart. I am going to read this book to my daughter when I have her.
Good read for my 9 year old son. Valuable lesson on overcoming bullying. Opened the door to having a meaningful conversation about bullying how to recognize it, what to do if you see it happening, etc. Would recommend for younger children, elementary school age.
This book has a really great message. The downside is that the book forces its rhymes so that they aren't the most fluid. I think it would have been AMAZING if the author had not been so focused on rhyming the text, but used free-verse instead with a more natural [written] speech pattern.
The story needs some details to understand bullying and how it effects children. Just to ignore a bully is not an effective way to deal with feelings. And is not realistic, maybe in a perfect world. To be able to ignore a bully is not so simple when you have little or no supportive environment. Kitty is very lucky to have a support system in place, but most children don't.
